Next-generation navigation system - fast, precise and radiation-free
Conventional image-guided navigation systems require up to 30 minutes for registration. Intra-operative re-registrations are time-consuming and radiation-intensive. FLASH™ Navigation reduces the registration time to less than 1 minute and works radiation-free.
This novel navigation solution from 7D Surgical utilises machine vision technology for spinal procedures. The advantages of this new navigation technology are
Highly efficient workflow
The intraoperative operation of the navigation workflow can be carried out entirely by the surgeon using a foot pedal in the sterile area.
Minimised intraoperative radiation exposure
No additional radiation imaging required for re-registration.
High accuracy
3D image guidance with almost 1,000,000 data points; real-time correlation between the interaction of the surgical instrument and the CT images.
Cost-efficient
Reduces operating time and eliminates reliance on additional trained professionals throughout the procedure.
How does the 7D Surgical Navigation device work?
Machine vision technology uses structured light during the registration process: a 2D light pattern is projected onto the anatomy. The light pattern reflected from the surface of the anatomy is then digitised with almost 1,000,000 data points and automatically matched with the pre-operative CT.The Flash™ Fix application enables rapid re-registration within a few seconds, without the use of ionising radiation. This enables the surgeon to navigate with maximum accuracy at all times.
How is the 7D navigation device constructed?
Sterile, surgically controlled light head with machine vision technology perfectly embedded to eliminate line of sight issues.
The foot pedal gives control back to the surgeon in the sterile field and reduces or even eliminates dependency on specialised technical staff.
The non-sterile user station with monitor, keyboard and mouse allows quick and easy system set-up
What are the advantages of the navigation system in detail?
WORKFLOW EFFICIENCY
FAST REREGISTRATION
FLASH™ Fix Re-registers in a few seconds for maximum accuracy and thus creates safety in navigation.OPTIMIZED WORKFLOW
No change or interruption to intraoperative surgical workflow.SURGEON CONTROLLED
Control of the surgical procedure with the foot pedal and the sterile light handle.NO LINE OF SIGHT CHALLENGES
The machine vision technology is integrated into the operating light directly above the head, which minimises line of sight problems.
RADIATION-FREE
NO INTRAOPERATIVE CT
Minimises the need for intraoperative radiation for registration and thus reduces radiation exposure for the surgeon, staff and patient.
HIGH ACCURACY
REAL-TIME NAVIGATION
Segmental registration creates a real-time correlation between the interaction of the surgical tool and the CT images, which is independent of patient positioning or intraoperative movements.
COST-EFFICIENT
REDUCES SPECIALIST STAFF
Eliminates the need for and dependence on specialised staff throughout the procedure.REDUCES OPERATING TIME
Significantly reduces registration time from 30 minutes to less than 1 minute, resulting in reduced operating times.
