The Advantages of EnSight™ Biportal Endoscopic Spine Surgery

“MIS changed opportunities in spine surgery; however, Endoscopy is set to take things to a new level.”

the most important technologies
Monoportal endoscopy
In monoportal (also: uniportal or full-endoscopic) endoscopic spinal surgery, a single portal or incision site is used to access the spine. In this technique, the surgeon inserts an endoscope through the small incision and navigates it to the affected area of the spine. This method requires minimal dissection of soft tissue and removal of bone, resulting in a very small surgical scar and less post-operative pain.
Biportal endoscopy
In biportal endoscopic spine surgery (also: BESS - biportal endoscopic spine surgery or UBE - unilateral biportal endoscopy), two portals or incisions are used to gain access to the spine. The first incision is used to insert the endoscope, while the second incision is used for the surgical instruments.
Conclusion
Both monoportal and biportal endoscopic spine surgery are minimally invasive techniques that offer several advantages over conventional open and minimally invasive spine surgery. However, the choice between the two techniques depends on the specific condition of the patient as well as the preference and experience of the surgeon.
