Rethinking Bone Grafting
MagnetOs is a synthetic, osteoinductive bone graft that offers far more than mere filler: it actively promotes natural bone formation without the need for added cells or growth factors.†,1,2,3,4,5 This is made possible by a unique combination of advanced material technology and the osteoimmunology field – which explains the interaction between the immune response and bone regeneration.

Mechanism of Action: Osteoimmunology & NeedleGrip™

MagnetOs is osteoinductive and grows bone on its own thanks to NeedleGrip™ – a proprietary submicron surface technology that harnesses the immune system to stimulate bone growth, without added cells or growth factors. †,1,2,3,4,5

  • Polarization of monocytes to M2 macrophages (pro-healing phenotype).2,6

  • M2 macrophages secrete regenerative signaling factors (e.g. BMP-2) that stimulate mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate osteoblasts as well as favoring angiogenesis. 2,6,7,8,9

  • NeedleGripTM propagates bone through the core of the graft.

The result
Previously untapped biological potential is activated – enabling predictable bone fusion. †, ‡,2

Applications & Formats

MagnetOs is available in two formulations:

  • Granules – loose particles, combinable with autologous bone, PRP, or bone marrow.10

  • Putty – ready-to-use, moldable, combinable with autologous bone.11

Both formulations are ideal for procedures involving the spine and pelvis, and can also be used in interventions on the extremities, skull, mandible, and maxilla.10,11

Who Benefits Most from MagnetOs?

  • Patients experience rapid bone healing – even with comorbidities (smokers, heart disease, obesity, diabetics, etc.) and without the risks of harvesting autograft from the iliac crest or potential risk of human tissue-related disease transmission.10,11,12,13,14

  • Spine and trauma surgeons benefit from predictable bone fusion, even in complex cases.12

  • Hospitals and surgical centers receive an efficient, shelf-stable product that requires no refrigeration and is ready to use.*,10,11

Clinical Relevance & Research

MagnetOs is thoroughly validated by science – from preclinical studies to clinical applications:

  • Proven equivalent and even indicated superiority to autograft in Level I PLF clinical trial.12

  • Backed by Project Fusion, a comprehensive research program including

o   10 clinical trials (including 3 at the highest level of evidence – Level I)

    o   Over 320 scientific publications

o   More than 25 granted patents

‡ MagnetOs has been proven to generate more predictable fusions than two commercially available alternatives in an ovine model of posterolateral fusion.

* MagnetOs Putty is to be stored at ambient temperature (max 45 °C). Higher temperatures may affect the consistency and the ability of the device to retain its shape.
